Effective Date: 1 February 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Caterpillar Clinic website and the provision of our professional services. By accessing our website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these terms. Caterpillar Clinic (ABN 35 164 743 846) is a private child and adolescent psychology practice located in Cairns, Queensland.
This website is provided for general informational purposes about Caterpillar Clinic and our services. The content on this website does not constitute medical or psychological advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional consultation. You may not use this website for any unlawful purpose or in a way that could damage, disable, or impair the site.
Appointments may be booked by contacting our clinic directly by phone or email during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm).
We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for cancellation or rescheduling of any appointment. Failure to provide adequate notice, or failure to attend a scheduled appointment without prior notice, will incur a late cancellation fee equivalent to the full scheduled session fee. This fee is not claimable through Medicare, NDIS, or private health insurance and is payable directly by the client or their parent/guardian.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances arise. Repeated late cancellations or non-attendances may result in a review of ongoing service provision.
Caterpillar Clinic offers services under the following funding arrangements:
We accept payment by EFTPOS, credit card, and direct bank transfer. Accounts outstanding beyond 30 days may be referred for debt recovery, with associated costs borne by the debtor.
Caterpillar Clinic may offer telehealth consultations via secure video conferencing where clinically appropriate. Telehealth sessions are subject to the same fees, cancellation policy, and professional obligations as in-person appointments. It is your responsibility to ensure you have a private, quiet space and a reliable internet connection for telehealth sessions.
Informed consent is obtained before commencing any assessment or therapeutic services. For clients under 18 years of age, written consent must be provided by a parent or legal guardian. Where parents share parental responsibility, we encourage both parents to be informed of and consent to the child’s treatment. Caterpillar Clinic reserves the right to request evidence of legal guardianship or parental authority, including Family Court orders, where relevant.
All information disclosed during the course of treatment is treated as confidential in accordance with the Psychology Board of Australia Code of Ethics and relevant legislation. However, there are legal limits to confidentiality. Our psychologists are mandatory reporters under the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld) and are legally required to report to the Department of Child Safety if they form a reasonable suspicion that a child has suffered, is suffering, or is at risk of significant harm.
Confidentiality may also be breached where:
Clinical records are created and maintained in accordance with AHPRA guidelines and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
